Type 1 Diabetes is difficult. Kat is coming up on her 10 yr mark and as a family it is always in the back of our minds. I am convinced she is so healthy and successful because we caught it early. As traumatic as it was, we were never in a life and death situation with advanced DKA. However, more than 40% of those newly diagnosed are in Diabetic Keto Acidosis, which can be fatal.
